Why a screenshot loses

Every message is chained to the one before it.

Each entry stores a SHA-256 fingerprint of its own contents plus the fingerprint of the previous entry. Change a single character anywhere in the history and its fingerprint changes — and so does every fingerprint after it. The break points straight to what was altered.

Messages are recorded the instant they're sent or received — not exported weeks later. Contemporaneous capture is what makes a record credible.

STEP 02

Seal each message

Every message is written to an append-only log and hash-chained to the previous one, with a timestamp. The record can be added to, never quietly rewritten.

STEP 03

Verify anytime

A standalone verifier re-computes the entire chain on demand. Intact means the history is exactly as sealed. Broken points to the tampered entry.
